Labour assembly member questions Boris on Vauxhall development

Vauxhall Cross development

Question No: 2061 / 2010

Valerie Shawcross

There is a great deal of disquiet among residents in the Vauxhall Cross area regarding several high rise developments planned for the area. Do you agree that any high rise development of this kind, while bringing economic and social benefits to an area, must also have minimal impact on those already living and working nearby?

Answer from the Mayor:

The consultation draft Vauxhall-Nine Elms-Battersea opportunity area planning framework sets out a strategy for tall buildings in the opportunity area. Several Vauxhall residents have submitted representations on the draft document and these will be taken into account in developing the final version for publication. In determining individual planning applications for tall buildings in the Vauxhall area, I will also take account of representations submitted by local residents.
